Do you have a lot of things on your Bucket List? In pondering this, I think I have only one…to see the Aurora Borealis/Northern Lights. I know that by virtue of living in a southern state, I will probably never see it in my neck of the woods but one can dream! I’m even on an email list that alerts me of the time and location of each expected occurrence.

Is there a yet-to-be-visited place on your Bucket List? I’ll bet you’ve already done research on that location? You’ve checked average temperatures, places of interest there, cost of traveling and numerous other things, haven’t you? I know I have!

One of the most puzzling things in my world is how few people know or even care to know about Heaven! While we may be blessed with 70 or 80 or 90 years on this planet, Heaven is where we will spend eternity…life without end! Why is it we’re not rabidly interested in what we will experience for that time?

I know there is a debate about where Heaven will be and what Heaven will be like. But one thing we can know for sure is that any person who has trusted Christ as the only payment for his sins, has eternal life with the Lord, no matter what it’s called. 2 Cor. 5:8

We have been in several small groups over the years and when we get to the end of our current study and are looking for ideas for our next one, like the proverbial broken record, I pop up to suggest that we do a study on Heaven/eternity. My suggestion is met with loud crickets. Whaaaat?? Why aren’t we excited about our future, eternal Home?
I know before I was married I didn’t want the Lord to return, didn’t want to think about eternity until I got married, then it was until I had children (which interestingly never arrived,) then it was until we got into our dream home, then…you get the picture.

Let me share a profound 4-minute video that so clearly illustrates this subject:

Why are we so hung up on our place on this planet when we will be here for 80-90 years max? Could it be because we think Heaven sounds boring? How many times have you heard some variation of, “I don’t want to go to Heaven, at least not yet, because I don’t want to float around on a cloud playing a harp forever?”

Do you know that it appears there is commerce in eternity? We know that there will be kings. Kings of what? Kings who rule kingdoms. Those the king rules over will bring their tributes into the light of the New Jerusalem that is lit by Jesus Who is sitting on The Throne. Rev. 21:24

Did you know that the crowns we get at the Judgment Seat are eternal crowns? It is only the apostles who will lay their crowns at Jesus’ feet. Rev. 4:10

Did you know that every single thing we do in this body, good or bad…every. thing. (let that sink in) translates into eternity? When I realized this, it literally changed my way of thinking!

Everything we do for the Lord while we are in this earth suit earns us rewards that will last *forever.*
What those rewards may be is beyond my comprehension. I just know that Jesus went back to His Home in Heaven and for 2000+ years, He has been preparing a place for us that includes positions in His Kingdom. Doesn’t that put a new perspective on our thoughts about Heaven and eternity??

I realize these are just bullet points of deep theological subjects. Each is a Bible study of its own.
Things here on Planet Earth are getting worse, have you noticed? It seems like evil is growing exponentially doesn’t it?  Time to make sure our spiritual armor is securely fastened and time to do some digging about where we will be spending eternity if we have trusted Christ as our Savior.

It won’t be long before our faith will be sight!
