Turkey/Syria Earthquakes
On February 7th, a major earthquake hit the Turkey/Syria area resulting in (so far) a death toll of 50,978 dead. 125,576 wounded. In addition to the earthquakes. countless buildings have simply collapsed to the ground, the result of years of war and earthquakes that weakened structures. Since that time major quakes have been reported in Indonesia, Egypt, Tajikistan, Lebanon, Israel, Romania, Slovenia, Greece, Croatia, Japan and New Zealand.

NOTE: As you can imagine, this leaves thousands of men, women and children who have no home, no clothes (but the nightclothes on their backs) no food and there is snow on the ground. Another strange situation that has to do with the earthquakes, is this list of countries with leading ambassadors that left Turkey 24 hours before the earthquakes struck. They must have known something was going to happen!

Putin Speech
In a long awaited speech to the Duma, President Putin of Russia made an interesting statement:
“Russia cannot be defeated on the battlefield, that’s why an information war is being waged against us. They attack us constantly, distort history, do not respect our culture. Look at what they are doing with their countries: they destroy the institution of the family, pedophilia is normal in their lives, they respect same-sex marriage. What shall we say to them? Any grown man can live how he wants and we don’t want to get into personal life, but in the holy books it is written that a family is a man and a woman with children”

Does that confuse you as much as it does me? On one hand Putin is portrayed as the arch enemy of the US and we know from our study of Scripture that Russia will be a major player in the Gog/Magog war yet to be fought. But the words Putin speaks sound an awfully lot like words we wish were coming from our government!

Iran
Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, Commander of the Air and Space Forces of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards revealed In an interview that Iran has developed a hyper-sonic missile that reaches a speed of Mach 12-13 (that’s around 9,000 MPH) and cruises outside the atmosphere. According to him, the missile cannot be intercepted by the enemy and that the appropriate timing for revealing the missile will be examined.

Hajizadeh also revealed for the first time the new Iranian cruise missile Paveh, which he says reaches a range of 1650 km (1025 miles.) The missile has a unique design with wings and an engine that is mounted in the upper part as a sort of “hump.”

The brigadier general revealed the development of Shahad 149 UAV, nicknamed “Gaza”. According to him, it reaches a range of 2000 km (1243 miles) and could carry up to 9 bombs with a total weight of 500 kg. (310 lbs.) It was also reported that it can stay in the air for 35 hours continuously and reach an altitude of 34 thousand feet.

And yet, the US CIA chief Bill Barnes in an interview with CBS says Iran has not yet decided on the development of nuclear weapons. “We do not believe that Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has already made a decision to renew the nuclear weapons program that they stopped in 2003.”

NATIONAL IMPACT
Multiple Train Derailments
On February 3, there was a massive tanker train derailment in East Palestine, OH. As if the destruction wasn’t bad enough, creating an ecological disaster, the government decided to then do a controlled burn to prevent an explosion, sending noxious black clouds billowing into the atmosphere.

Many experts have declared that this is the worst ecological incident in US history, on a par with Chernobyl. The question I have is why did it take so long to be reported? Why did it take so long for anyone in power to be on-site? What is going on? Is it a coincidence that the film “White Noise” was made last year; a drama about an airborne toxic event? Is it a coincidence that many locals from New Palestine, OH were extras in that movie?
* On February 21, a HazMat team was dispatched to Gothenburg, NE  for a Union Pacific coal train derailment. This was the third derailment in the same location over a span of 6 weeks!

Asbury “Revival”
A regular chapel service that began Wednesday morning, February 8th at the campus of about 1,600 students turned extraordinary when a group of students stayed behind in the university’s Hughes Auditorium to continue worshiping. The message that morning had focused on confession, repentance, and love in action, based on Romans 12.

For several days students remained in the chapel, singing, praying, reading Scripture, experiencing moments of stillness, and sharing personal testimonies. For those critical of the movement, I can find nothing to criticize about singing, praying, etc. Real revival isn’t planned or scheduled. Revival begins in the Church and then becomes an outlet for evangelism.

This movement began to spread to other local campuses and has since spread nationally and internationally. I confess I became a news junky on the subject, trying to understand what is happening. I think we dare not criticize something we don’t understand or be critical because “that’s not how we did it.”

What brought me to tears was this video from Israel, ONE FOR ISRAEL is an initiative of native-born Israelis at the forefront of high-tech media evangelism, proclaiming salvation to Israel, raising up spiritual leaders through ONE FOR ISRAEL’s Bible College and equipping them with the tools they need to transform our communities.

What is going on? I have no idea but to deny that *something* is happening is to stick your head in the sand. I like one comment I read…”Perhaps Holy Spirit is becoming especially active at this time because we may be very near to the time when the Restrainer (Holy Spirit) is to leave the earth for a time (at the Rapture), being taken out of the way before Tribulation begins. Holy Spirit is now trying to save as many as can be saved before that time. (2 Thessalonians 2:6-8)”
